Lost in Los Angeles: Schindler's Fitzpatrick-Leland House

In 1936, C.C. Fitzpatrick commissioned Schindler to design and build a house at Laurel Canyon Road and Mullholland Drive to serve as a enticement to buy in a nearby real estate development. It's a lovely house, again with nicely interlocking spaces and visually appealing articulation. Nearly every room in the house has access to an outdoor patio or rooftop deck. A bridge extends out from the living room and then back into the rear yard, helping to define an outside room complete with its own picture window.

Real estate investor Russ Leland restored the house and donated it to the MAK Center in 2008 where it now serves as a vacation rental, space for MAK Center events, and tours.
